More on Sustainability
Discussion about the protection and preservation of the environment is everywhere, but “Deutsche See” is determined to put words into action. “Deutsche See” fulfills a “sea of responsibility” by promoting sustainable fisheries. Our incentives to do so are obvious: endangering the marine ecosystem would not only jeopardize fishing, but would compromise our own capacity to process, sell and distribute high quality fish and fish products. Thus, forwarding long-term sustainability is economically favorable to us.
At “Deutsche See”, we realize the importance of our role as the national leader in our field. Sustainable fisheries enable us to set an example that balances economic and ecological interests. We do not separate our responsibility towards the ocean from our responsibility towards fisherman and their families. “Deutsche See” aims to prove that environmental responsibility and economic interests can coexist.
Several countries have set an example of sustainability: Norway, Iceland and New Zealand have already made a positive transition to long-term sustainable management of their fish stocks. Why not bring such policies to Germany, or better yet – extend them to the entire European Union?
“Deutsche See” realizes that every stage of our activity - from purchasing to manufacturing fish, and from warehousing to transporting our products – directly impacts the ecological and social environment. Our goal is thus to exercise caution and promote preservation, in every step of the process. We are confident that the costs we incur by doing so are a worthwhile investment for the future.
We invite you to join us in these initiatives. A sustainable fishing industry is the way to offer diverse and healthy marine resources today, while ensuring that our children may continue to benefit from the same quality and variety in the future!
